Natasha Akpoti Reveals Why She Invited Akpabio For Projects Commissioning In Kogi

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, has explained that her invitation to Senate President Godswill Akpabio and other lawmakers for a project commissioning in Kogi State was in line with legislative procedure.

On Thursday, the senator extended invitations to Akpabio and her colleagues for the event, which comes two months after her return from suspension.

As she marks her second year in office, Natasha Akpoti said she notified the Senate through the presiding officer so that the letter could be read publicly, in line with parliamentary norms.

According to her, the invitation was made public to ensure inclusivity and avoid the impression of a private celebration.

She added that despite her ongoing court cases, she remains committed to her legislative duties and proper procedures.

Today, as is customary for announcements of such nature, I wrote a letter to the Senate through the presiding officer to the Senate President to read on the floor,” she said in a statement.

“I put out the invitation so it wouldn’t seem like I was celebrating in isolation. I’m a progressive person. Even with ongoing court cases, I continue to carry out my duties in the chamber and follow proper procedures.”

Akpoti-Uduaghan noted that her approach reflects respect for due process and institutional order, emphasizing that her upcoming event is about service to the people, not personal glory.

KanyiDaily recalls that on February 20, Natasha Akpoti clashed with Godswill Akpabio over seating arrangements during a Senate session and later accused him of sexual harassment, a claim he denied.
