Tinubu Sacks Christopher Musa As Chief Of Defence Staff, Appoints New Military Heads

President Bola Tinubu has made a reshuffle among Nigeria’s Service Chiefs as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the country’s national security framework.

The announcement was made in a statement released on Friday in Abuja by his Special Adviser on Media and Public Communication, Sunday Dare.

According to the statement, Olufemi Oluyede has been appointed as the new Chief of Defence Staff, succeeding General Christopher Musa.

W. Shaibu is now the Chief of Army Staff, SK Aneke takes over as Chief of Air Staff, and I. Abbas becomes the new Chief of Naval Staff.

However, E.A.P. Undiendeye will continue in his position as Chief of Defence Intelligence.

President Tinubu praised the outgoing Service Chiefs for their dedication and service to the nation.

He urged the newly appointed officers to uphold the professionalism, integrity, and unity that define the Nigerian Armed Forces and to demonstrate strong leadership in safeguarding the country.

All the new appointments take effect immediately.

This comes few days after report emerged that 16 top-ranking military officers were arrested by Nigeria’s Armed Forces over an alleged plan to overthrow President Bola Tinubu
