Bandits Kidnap 25 Schoolgirls, Kill Vice Principal In Deadly Kebbi School Attack

Bandits have kidnapped several students from the Government Girls Comprehensive Senior Secondary School (GGCSS) in Maga, Kebbi State.

It was gathered that the attack took place on Sunday night in the Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area.

Sources said the gunmen stormed the school, killed the Vice Principal, Malam Hassan Makuku, and then took away a number of schoolgirls.

The exact number of those kidnapped was unclear at first, though later police officials confirmed that 25 students were taken.

Witnesses described the attack as swift and unchallenged, leaving the community in shock and fear.

Makuku was said to have been shot while trying to shield the students from the attackers.

Residents have been mourning his death, offering prayers for his soul and for comfort for his family.

Kebbi State Police spokesperson CSP Nafiu Abubakar confirmed the incident and the number of abducted students.

The governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Ahmed Idris, said Deputy Governor Senator Umar Tafida has been sent to the school to evaluate the situation.

In a statement, Idris said Governor Nasir Idris is currently outside the state but is expected to return soon.

The deputy governor is on his way to know the exact situation. The governor is not in the state for now, but his deputy will go on his behalf until he returns at any moment from now,” Idris said.

Parents and community members are anxiously waiting for further information about the kidnapped students.

KanyiDaily recalls that five police officers were recently killed, and one declared missing after bandits ambushed a police patrol team in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
