The swearing-in took place just before the start of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting, which was chaired by the president.
Bernard Doro, from Plateau State, will now serve as Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, replacing Nentawe Yilwatda, who stepped down after becoming the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Doro’s appointment was approved by the Senate in late October.
Kingsley Udeh, who hails from Enugu State, takes over as Minister of Science, Innovation, and Technology following the resignation of Uche Nnaji, who left office amid allegations of certificate forgery. Udeh’s nomination was confirmed by the Senate earlier on Thursday after a brief screening session.
Before joining the federal cabinet, Udeh served as Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice in Enugu State.
During the FEC meeting, members paused to observe a minute of silence in honor of the late Solomon Ewuga, a former Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory under President Olusegun Obasanjo.
Ewuga had also served as Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State, Senator representing Nasarawa North, and Nigeria’s Ambassador to Angola during the Goodluck Jonathan administration.
The council also paid tribute to Abdullahi Mohammed Adangba, who served as Chief of Staff to former Presidents Obasanjo and Umaru Musa Yar’Adua. He passed away at the age of 86.
In attendance at the FEC meeting were Secretary to the Government of the Federation George Akume, Head of the Civil Service Didi Walson-Jack, Chief of Staff to the President Femi Gbajabiamila, National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, and most cabinet ministers.
