VeryDarkMan, Mr Jollof Seen At Police Station As NCAA Vows To Punish Them Over In-Flight Fight

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has announced that it plans to take action against VeryDarkMan and Mr Jollof after the two were caught on camera fighting in a commercial flight.

The clash happened on Monday and quickly went viral on social media after a video surfaced showing the comedian and the activist locked in a fierce fight inside the aircraft. Other passengers could be heard shouting as they rushed to separate the pair.

Reacting to the incident in a post on X, Michael Achimugu, the NCAA’s director of public affairs and consumer protection, described the scene as dangerous and completely unacceptable, stressing that their behaviour put every passenger and crew member at risk.

Achimugu said the aviation authority is treating the case as a serious breach of safety rules and noted that the airline involved must file an official report before the NCAA proceeds with sanctions.

He explained that he saw the viral footage just as he was boarding a flight and immediately requested basic details so he could alert his team to begin gathering information.

“VDM and Mr Jollof. I had just boarded a flight and about to take off when I was tagged to a video post about a rage incident between VDM and Mr. Jollof, two social media influencers who should know better than the unacceptable behaviour and subsequent gloating video made by one of the individuals,” he wrote.

“Because the aircraft was about to push back for taxiing, and I needed to switch off my phone, I quickly asked the poster for two basic details so that I could quickly forward a screenshot to our CPOs to investigate and get me details which would help me do my job on arrival at transit airport.

“I just arrived at the transit airport to find my comment riddled with chaotic insults and labels by people who think that asking questions of the same social media folk who I attend to, day and night, on social media, is an aberration. I will ignore those insults for now.

“Procedurally, the airline should report the incident to the NCAA, and my department would forward to legal for advise and appropriate action/advise. Since I have not received such a report yet, I will say this before I board my connecting flight.”

Achimugu expressed disappointment that both men, known for their large followings online, behaved in a way that contradicts the message they claim to promote.

He emphasised that the authority has zero tolerance for disorderly conduct on an aircraft and made it clear that both individuals will face consequences.

“There is no tolerance for unruly behaviour aboard an aircraft. Both individuals will face the full strength of the law. It is even more shameful when one considers both of them partners in educating their millions of followers to avoid unruly behavior,” he added.

He also questioned how the situation was handled onboard, questioning whether the pilot asked the men to leave the aircraft before the flight took off, adding that if they were allowed to travel after the fight, the airline may also face scrutiny.

He noted that their actions did not only endanger other travellers but also the aircraft itself, especially at a time when the NCAA has invested heavily in awareness campaigns against unruly conduct in the air.

“While waiting for information (I have reached out to our staff for details now that I am on ground), one wonders if the pilot had both passengers deplaned or if they were flown to destination. If it was the latter, there will be consequences,” he said.

“The actions of both men put the safety of all other passengers and the crew at risk. It also put the safety of the aircraft at risk. The NCAA has exerted a lot of energy and resources in educating passengers about the dangers of unruly behaviour and its consequences.

“In this case, no matter what led to the fracas, there is no excuse that makes it acceptable. Subject to the speed of information, I will put out a proper statement before boarding my next flight. Otherwise, I will do so on arrival at destination.”

While investigations continue, both VeryDarkMan and Mr Jollof are currently at the Delta State Airport Police Command, where they are giving their statements.

KanyiDaily recalls that both men have a long history of online feuds, which intensified after VeryDarkMan accused Mr Jollof’s wife of sleeping with internet fraudsters, a claim that escalated their rivalry.
