Bola Oyebamiji’s emergence was confirmed on Saturday at the party’s primary election held in Osogbo.
The decision followed a motion proposed by two other aspirants, Kunle Adegoke (SAN) and Senator Babajide Omoworare, calling for Oyebamiji to be adopted as a consensus candidate.
The motion was put to a voice vote by the chairman of the APC governorship primary committee and Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo. Party members at the venue overwhelmingly supported the decision.
Following the vote, Okpebholo formally announced Oyebamiji as the party’s governorship flagbearer.
“By the power conferred on me, I present to you Bola Oyebamiji, as the governorship candidate of our party,” he said.
The APC primary began earlier in Osogbo with the arrival of the primary committee led by Okpebholo, who had earlier indicated that the process would be decided by affirmation rather than a competitive vote.
He was joined by the committee’s co-chairman, Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, alongside other members of the committee, including Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule, Lagos State Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat representing Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello.
Bola Oyebamiji will contest against incumbent governor Ademola Adeleke, who recently emerged as the Accord Party’s candidate for the 2026 governorship election.
