Tinubu Replaces Farouk Ahmed As NMDPRA MD After Dangote’s Corruption Allegations

Farouk Ahmed has resigned as the Managing Director of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA).

This comes following corruption allegations made against him by Aliko Dangote, Chairman of the Dangote Group.

Presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga confirmed the Farouk Ahmed’s resignation on Wednesday.

He also announced that Gbenga Komolafe has left his role as CEO of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC).

Onanuga added that President Bola Tinubu has submitted the names of their replacements to the Senate for approval.

According to him, the president is requesting a fast-tracked confirmation for Oritsemeyiwa Eyesan to lead NUPRC and Saidu Mohammed to head NMDPRA.

The two nominees are seasoned professionals in the oil and gas industry,” the statement read in part.

Earlier on the same day before his resignation, Farouk visited President Tinubu at the State House in Abuja.

Wearing traditional attire, he stayed for less than 30 minutes and did not speak to reporters, telling them, “It’s already late for an interview. It’s past 5 p.m. Work has closed.

His meeting with the president came shortly after a public dispute with Aliko Dangote, who filed a complaint with the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), accusing Farouk Ahmed of corruption and financial misconduct.
