Lagos State Commissioner for Information, Gbenga Omotosho, said the crash happened near the Shagamu Interchange section of the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway.
He added that the state government sent an ambulance and emergency teams to the scene.
Images from the scene showed Anthony Joshua without a shirt, standing near the damaged vehicles.
The heavyweight appeared unharmed, with people gathered around him offering help and support.
According to Punch, two people lost their lives in the accident, while Joshua sustained only minor injuries.
The crash was said to have occurred after a Lexus SUV with the registration number KRD 850 HN hit a stationary truck on the expressway.
The incident took place just nine days after Anthony Joshua knocked out Jake Paul in an exhibition heavyweight fight in Miami.
He has been in Nigeria since then, spending the festive period in the country.
KanyiDaily recalls that in 2024, Anthony Joshua brought joy to his hometown in Ogun, with a surprise visit during the festive season.
