The Federal High Court in Abuja has granted former Attorney General and Minister of Justice Abubakar Malami, his son, and a company employee bail of ₦500 million each, with two sureties required.

Justice Emeka Nwite specified that the sureties must own landed property in Asokoro, Maitama, or Gwarinpa, and their property documents must be verified by the court’s deputy chief registrar.

The sureties are also required to provide an affidavit of means.

Malami has been instructed to submit his travel documents to the court and is barred from leaving the country without court approval.

He and his sureties must also provide two recent passport photographs.

Until the bail conditions are fully met, Malami will remain in Kuje prison.

Justice Nwite announced February 17 as the date for the trial to begin.

The same bail terms apply to Malami, his son Abdulaziz, and Hajia Asabe Bashir, an employee of Rahamaniyya Properties Limited.

KanyiDaily recalls that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) recently filed a 16-count alleged money laundering charge against Malami, his son and his wife.
