Sokoto Govt Shares Garri, Kuli-Kuli, Sachet Water Despite Budgeting N1bn For Ramadan Feeding Program

Sokoto State Government, led by Governor Ahmad Aliyu, is facing criticism over its N1 billion Ramadan feeding programme after reports emerged that residents received only garri, kuli-kuli, and sachet water.

The issue came to light when political commentator Mallam Jabir shared details about the programme on X, stating that the state had set aside N1 billion for Ramadan feeding.

“Ramadan feeding program in Sokoto state. The Sokoto state government budgeted 1 billion naira for the program,” he wrote.

The conversation grew after another X user, known as OurFaveOnlineDoc, posted photos said to show the items distributed under the scheme.

The pictures showed small portions of garri, kuli-kuli, and sachets of drinking water.

In his post, the X user questioned whether the supplies matched the budget, suggesting that the funds was  not properly used.

“Please look at these pictures. Look at it very closely and zoom in. This is the government-funded Ramadan feeding program in Sokoto.

“Sokoto state govt claims they budgeted 1 billion naira for what you are seeing here.

“Even during the holy month of Ramadan, these wicked lunatic criminal thieves in government are still stealing,” he wrote.

The posts quickly sparked debate online with some social media users demanding that the state government explain how the money was spent and provide full details of the programme.

Others urged caution, saying the claims should be verified and that officials should clarify how the budget was allocated before conclusions are drawn.
