Nigerian gospel singer Onos Brisibi, known for her powerful voice on many Nollywood soundtracks, has died at the age of 55.

Onos Brisibi’s family confirmed the news in a statement released on Thursday, saying she passed away on March 23, 2026, after battling a long illness.

They described her as a committed Christian who used her music to inspire and uplift others, stressing that she was warm, lively, and kind-hearted, and her impact will not be forgotten.

The Brisibi family announces with deep sorrow the passing of Esteemed Sister Onos Nancy Brisibi, who transitioned to glory on 23rd March 2026 after a protracted illness,” the statement reads.

“Onos Nancy Brisibi was a devoted Christian, a gifted songstress, and a passionate praise and worship leader whose angelic voice touched many lives as she spread the gospel through music.

“She will be remembered as a beautiful, fun-loving woman with a heart of gold, whose faith, warmth, and kindness left lasting impressions on all who knew her.”

The family said details of her funeral will be announced later.

Onos Brisibi is survived by her daughter, Sarah Brisibi, her mother, siblings, extended relatives, close friends, and members of her church, LoveWorld Ministries.

Born on November 20, 1970, in Aladja, Delta State, to Ambrose Oproze and Mary Koko Brisibi, Onos began singing at a young age, starting her music journey at just nine years old.

Over the years, she became a familiar voice in Nollywood, contributing to popular films such as Domitilla, Mortal Inheritance, Deadly Passion, Blood Money, Deadly End, and Shame.

Her voice also featured on the hit song Gra Gra by Lagbaja, further cementing her place in Nigeria’s music scene.
