“I Didn’t Want Her Body To Waste” – Man Arrested For Killing Woman And Rαping Her Corpse In Ondo

A Magistrate’s Court in Akure, Ondo State, has ordered that a 21-year-old carpenter, Anthony Alabi, be remanded at the Olokuta Correctional Centre over the alleged killing of 58-year-old Veronica Olaseni.

The police arraigned Alabi before the court on a two-count charge bordering on murder and theft.

During the hearing, the suspect admitted to abusing the woman’s body after her death, saying, “I didn’t want her body to waste, so I had intercourse with her corpse.’

However, the court did not take his plea because the magistrate lacked jurisdiction to entertain the matter.

The presiding magistrate, Temitope Adurota, therefore ordered that he remain in custody while waiting for legal advice from the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

Earlier, the prosecutor, Inspector Folashade Adebayo, told the court that the incident happened on March 2, 2026, at about 2:30 p.m. in Iboropa-Akoko, Akoko North-East Local Government Area.

According to the prosecution, the suspect allegedly attacked the woman on her farm after she recognised him while he was trying to steal from her.

The prosecutor added that he was also accused of taking some of her belongings, including an Infinix phone said to be worth N150,000, a cutlass valued at N10,000, and her Access Bank ATM card.

The charge stated that the suspect caused the woman’s death by tightly holding her neck, an offence punishable under Section 319 of the Ondo State Criminal Code Law, 2006.

He was also accused of stealing the listed items, which the prosecution said violates Section 390 of the same law.

The prosecutor asked the court to remand him until the DPP reviews the case and gives legal advice.

The defendant, who had no lawyer in court, reportedly admitted that he went to the woman’s farm to steal cashew nuts and attacked her after she identified him.

The magistrate directed that the case file should be sent to the DPP’s office and adjourned the matter until June 6 for mention.

KanyiDaily also reported how a magistrate court in Makurdi, Benue State, remanded a pastor, Kelvin Imo, at the Makurdi Correctional Centre over allegations that he raped a church member.
