Queen Mercy Atang Reveals Why She Never Wanted To Give Birth

Big Brother Naija reality star Queen Mercy Atang has revealed that her feelings toward childbirth changed over time as she marked Mother’s Day.

In a post shared on Instagram, the BBNaija using admitted that she once had a strong fear of giving birth and used to say she did not want children.

She explained that looking back now, those thoughts make her smile because life eventually changed her outlook.

According to her, becoming a mother has been a meaningful experience that has transformed the way she sees life.

Motherhood has been such an incredible journey. Funny enough, years ago I used to say I never wanted to give birth because I was so scared,” she wrote.

“Now when I think about it, I just laugh at myself. Life really has a way of changing your mind.”

She said the journey into motherhood has pushed her to become more determined and focused on building a better future for her children.

Queen Mercy Atang said, “Today, all I want is to be the best mother I can be. Motherhood has made me more focused, more resilient, and more motivated to work hard and build a future my kids will be proud of.

“Even on the days when I’m tired and running on little sleep, the love makes it all worth it.”

Queen used the opportunity to celebrate mothers across the world, wishing them a happy Mother’s Day and encouraged them to appreciate themselves for the effort they put into raising their families.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the beautiful mothers around the world. Take your flowers, mommies — you deserve them and so much more,” she said.

“May God continue to bless us with wisdom, strength, patience (because we definitely need it), and the grace to keep being the amazing mothers our children need.”

The Akwa Ibom-born influencer welcomed her daughter in December 2023 after first sharing news of her pregnancy in December 2022.

KanyiDaily recalls that Queen Mercy Atang married David Oyekanmi in March 2024, but the marriage ended in December 2025 when she confirmed their separation.
