KanyiDaily recalls that Apostle Chibuzor announced the marriage proposal, revealing that although his daughter shows signs of autism, she can communicate and hear properly.
He also listed conditions for anyone interested in marrying her, saying the person must be young, healthy, and mentally stable, stressing that older men and people with disabilities would not be considered.
The proposed arrangement came with significant benefits, including lifelong financial support, a house provided for the couple in both their names, and periodic, unannounced visits by ministry officials to monitor her welfare.
However, the proposal drew heavy criticism from the public, with many people raising concerns about the idea of arranging a marriage for someone they considered vulnerable.
The backlash was even stronger because of a similar situation weeks earlier, when the cleric arranged a marriage involving his autistic son and an older woman, reportedly with financial incentives.
As reactions continued to grow, the ministry later announced that the wedding would no longer go ahead, despite receiving over a thousand applications from interested men.
In a Facebook post, OPM simply stated that the plan had been suspended until further notice, without giving a clear reason for the decision.
“Chiemeka Chibuzor wedding is hereby suspended. More than a thousand applications. No more wedding, Pending further directive from me HRM King, Apostle Chibuzor Gift Chinvere,” the post reads.
This development comes just weeks after Apostle Chibuzor Chinyere introduced a similar marriage arrangement for his adopted autistic son, Aboy, who later got married to a single mother of three.
