Ex-Super Eagles Striker Michael Eneramo Slumps And Dies While Playing Football In Kaduna

Former Super Eagles forward Michael Eneramo has died after collapsing during a football game in Kaduna.

The Nigeria Football Federation confirmed the death of the 40-year-old on Friday.

Michael Eneramo was taking part in a local friendly match in the Ungwan Yelwa area of Kaduna when he suddenly slumped shortly after the second half began.

He made his debut for Nigeria in 2009 during a friendly match against Jamaica in London, which ended in a goalless draw.

Later that year, the 40-year-old scored his first international goal in a 1-1 draw against the Republic of Ireland.

One of his most memorable moments came during Nigeria’s qualification for the 2010 World Cup, when he scored a crucial late goal in a 2-2 draw against Tunisia.

Eneramo featured 10 times for the national team before stepping away in 2011.

Born in Kaduna in 1985, he started his professional career with Lobi Stars in Makurdi.

Michael Eneramo later played club football in Tunisia and Turkey before retiring in 2018.
