Fat Joe, who had Jamaican legend Buju Banton as a guest on his show, described BNXN as a “fake,” claiming the Nigerian artist disrespected Banton by using the name “Buju.”
He said he and others called BNXN out publicly and pushed him to change the name, insisting that there is only one Buju Banton.
The rapper also stirred debate by suggesting that Jamaica played a key role in the origin of Afrobeats, a statement that has since sparked mixed reactions online.
Reacting in a series of tweets, Buju BNXN criticized Fat Joe for what he described as a biased view of African music and its artists.
He urged the rapper to broaden his understanding and learn more about the culture before making such comments.
BNXN also thanked fans who supported him during the controversy, saying their messages meant a lot to him.
While expressing his frustration, the singer noted that he still values respect and believes it should go both ways.
He wrote, “The hate in the your heart and your deliberate misinformation about African music and its artists is why your chromosomes are all fucked up. Educate yourself bozo..
“All my genuine love and respect to everyone who gave a voice or a reaction in support. I love and appreciate each and everyone of you.
“Even in my moments of rage , I never want to lose my sense of humanity. Respect me and I will respect you.”
