The club confirmed the news on Saturday, praising their captain for playing a major role in helping the team secure a top-three finish and qualify for the UEFA Champions League under manager Michael Carrick.
Bruno Fernandes, who is Manchester United’s captain, delivered strong numbers this season, scoring eight goals and providing 20 assists in the league.
His assist tally matches the Premier League record for most assists in a single season, previously set by Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne.
He now has a chance to break that record when United take on Brighton & Hove Albion in their final league match on Sunday.
The award was determined through votes from fans alongside input from a panel of football experts.
Earlier in the season, Fernandes also picked up Manchester United’s Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year award for the fifth time and was named Footballer of the Year by the Football Writers’ Association.
Other players shortlisted for the award included Gabriel Magalhães, David Raya, Declan Rice, Erling Haaland, Antoine Semenyo, Morgan Gibbs-White, and Igor Thiago.
With this achievement, Bruno Fernandes becomes the seventh Manchester United player to win the award since it was first introduced in the 1994/95 season.
