Omoyele Sowore Proposes N500,000 Minimum Wage For Nigerian Workers

Omoyele Sowore, the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), said a ₦500,000 minimum wage would be fair for Nigerian workers, insisting it matches the country’s current economic situation.

Sowore made the statement via his X page on Wednesday while calling for better pay and improved welfare for workers in key sectors of the economy.

He argued that people working in public service, including security personnel, healthcare workers, and teachers, should earn enough to live comfortably.

According to him, a ₦500,000 minimum wage is reasonable and necessary, especially for workers who play vital roles in society.

He also stressed that those in high-risk or essential jobs should receive extra allowances to reflect the nature of their work and the sacrifices they make.

Sowore wrote, “A minimum wage of ₦500,000 is not too much for Nigerian workers. Police officers, soldiers, teachers, doctors, nurses, and other public servants deserve a living wage and those in critical sectors must earn additional allowances for the risks, sacrifices, and essential services they provide.”

KanyiDaily recalls that AAC recently adopted Omoyele Sowore as its consensus presidential candidate for the 2027 general election.
