Peller made the announcement in a post shared on X on Thursday titled “A New Chapter of Service.”
The former lawmaker said he would contest under the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM).
“I am pleased to formally announce my intention to contest for Senate, representing the people of the Oyo North Senatorial District in the 2027 elections under the platform of the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM),” he wrote.
Peller described his decision as a renewed commitment to serving the people of Oyo North and using his experience and skills to support development across the district.
Shina Peller represented the Iseyin/Itesiwaju/Iwajowa/Kajola Federal Constituency of Oyo State in the House of Representatives from 2019 to 2023.
In 2023, he sought the Oyo North senatorial ticket under the All Progressives Congress (APC) but lost the party’s primary to Abdulfatai Buhari, who later won the senatorial election.
Buhari has since pursued the APC governorship ticket in Oyo State and indicated that he would not return to the Senate in 2027.
