The centres in London and Manchester were set up as part of a special passport intervention exercise by the Nigeria Immigration Service.
According to a public notice issued in August by the Service’s Public Relations Officer, DCI Akinsola Akinlabi, the London and Manchester exercises are scheduled to run from September 7 to September 19, 2026.
However, an X user, @Oluomoofderby, claimed that Nigerians who travelled from different parts of the UK to access passport services were left waiting for hours without receiving attention.
In a post shared on Monday, the user urged the Nigeria Immigration Service and other officials involved in the exercise to address the situation, saying Nigerians in the UK deserved better service.
He wrote, “Passport Intervention Centre in Manchester: Nigerians Deserve Better Service.
” It is now 11:30 a.m., and people who arrived as early as 9:00 a.m. are still waiting, with nothing happening. This is not the way to treat Nigerians who have taken time off work, travelled long distances, and paid for passport services.
“Please, we cannot continue doing things this way. We need proper planning, better organisation, clear communication, and an efficient system that respects people’s time and dignity.
“We must move away from the same old ways of doing things and organise these interventions properly. Nigerians in the UK deserve better. @nigimmigration @BTOofficial @Nigerialondon.”
