Nigerian singer Omah Lay has described himself as the greatest Afrobeats artiste of this decade, while making it clear that his claim is based purely on artistic quality.

Speaking in a recent interview with Capital Xtra, the singer said his confidence is rooted in the craft of his music rather than commercial success or fame.

He stated that he believes he stands at the top when it comes to artistry in Afrobeats, even if others may be judged differently based on streams, popularity, or public profile.

“I am the greatest Afrobeats artiste of the decade. I am the greatest,” Omah Lay said.

“Well, you can say numbers, and personality, and the level of fame, and stardom, maybe you would not consider me. When it comes to the art itself, I am the greatest.”
