Police in South Africa has allegedly killed a 46-year-old Nigerian man identified as Pius Ezekwem at his resident in the presence of wife and family.
According to reports, the incident happened over the weekend after the businessman who ran a chain of bed and breakfast guest houses, was forcefully picked up at a Nigerian eatery and taken to his home at eastern cape province, for a search and interrogation.
During the altercation at his home, the Nigerian man reportedly asked the policemen to kill him in his house as he would not follow them to anywhere.
The argument between Pius and the South African police officers degenerated so fast that a gunshot was fired, leading to the Nigerian business man who died in the presence of his family and South African wife.
All phones were seized except that of Pius’ sister-in-law who recorded his altercation with the police.
Confirming the incident, the Nigerian Ambassador to South Africa, Godwin Adama, said a formal report has been launched to the South African police on the incident
