Adamawa State High Court has sentenced Bishop Jingi Mayo to five years in prison for diverting N69m meant for the state’s Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board.
Jingi, who was the executive secretary of the Adamawa State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board between 2016 and 2017, was arraigned on Monday by the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).
The cleric was accused of diverting the money meant for the operation committees of the 2016 Christian Pilgrims operation to Israel.
Justice Nathan Musa found him guilty of diverting government money and making false statement to the officer of the ICPC.
The judge sentenced him to 5 years in prison sentence without an option of fine.
