“188 In Lagos, 44 In Abuja” – Nigeria Records 307 New Cases Of Coronavirus As Total Hits 10,162

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has announced 307 new cases of coronavirus, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 10,162.

The latest figure makes Nigeria the country with the third highest number of COVID-19 cases in Africa behind only South Africa – 30,967 and Egypt – 23,449.

In a Tweet on Sunday night, NCDC said the COVI-19 infections were spread across 14 states and the FCT, with Lagos accounting for the highest number of infections for the day with 188 cases.

While the number of recoveries rose from 2,856 to 3,007, a total of 14 deaths were recorded, and the figure of fatalities rose from 273 to 287. NCDC tweeted:

“On the 31st of May 2020, 307 new confirmed cases and 287 deaths were recorded in Nigeria. No new state has reported a case in the last 24 hours.

“The 307 new cases are reported from 15 states: Lagos-188, FCT-44, Ogun-19, Kaduna-14, Oyo-12, Bayelsa-9, Gombe-5, Kano-3, Delta-3, Imo-2, Rivers-2, Niger-2, Bauchi-2, Plateau-1, Kwara-1.

“Till date, 10162 cases have been confirmed, 3007 cases have been discharged and 287 deaths have been recorded in 35 states and the Federal Capital Territory.”
