Embattled Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki on Sunday paid a short trips to Akwa Ibom and Rivers states, to allegedly seek support for his bid to join the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and contest on the opposition party’s platform.
These meetings are coming a day after an APC screening committee disqualified Obaseki from contesting in the party’s gubernatorial primaries scheduled to hold on June 22.
Details of his meeting with Governor Udom Emmanuel and Nyesom Wike could not be obtained. Only photos from the meetings were shared.
However, Obaseki is believed to be on consultations with the two PDP governors to possibly join the party in order to contest for a second term.
The APC screening committee disqualified Obaseki over his inability to sort out discrepancies in his HSC and NYSC certificates.
PDP said it ‘s ready to accept Obaseki, if he is willing to join the main opposition party.
