A Nigerian woman reportedly slumped and died after hearing that her husband tested positive for coronavirus.

A middle-aged woman simply identified as Mrs Oregbe slumped and died upon hearing the news that her husband have tested positive for coronavirus in Ugheli, Delta State.

The incident, which was said to have occurred on Monday at Igho Salami Street, Uloho Avenue in Ugheli, has since thrown the entire neighborhood into mourning.

When newsmen visited the home of the Oregbes in Ugheli on Wednesday, mourners were seen discussing the matter in low tones and unwilling to talk about the incident to strangers.

A source, who craved anonymity, said the woman was at home when the news of her husband sample result came out, testing positive to Covid-19.

“I am sure she has been managing high blood pressure before now, because as soon as she was told her husband tested positive, she slump and died before they could rush her to the hospital,” the source said.

When contacted, the Spokesman for Delta State Police Command, Onome Onovwakpoyeya said that the incident had not been reported to the police.

This is coming on heel of the announcement by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) that Delta state currently has 965 confirmed cases of coronavirus.

The state governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, his wife Edith, and one of their daughters are among the positive cases in the state.
