A popular hacktivist group, Anonymous, has claimed responsibility for bringing down many website belonging to the Nigerian Government in solidality to the ongoing protests against the extrajudicial activities of the now-defunct Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).
The websites of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC), Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and other government website were all by Anonymous on Friday night.
The extent of damage on all the sites was not immediately understood as a result of the breach, which is part of the hacktivist group’s ongoing coordinated cyberattacks against the Nigerian government.
The hacker, who tweets from @LiteMods, claimed responsibilities for the coordinated attack on not less than 9 Nigerian government-owned websites in support of protests against police brutality in Nigeria.
Although some of the websites are now back online, below all the government websites that came under attack on Friday night.
1) Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN)
2) Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)
3) Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC)

The hacktivist group also promised to release big ‘unexpected’ secrets about the Nigerian Government agencies tomorrow.
