Popular Nigerian musicians Falz and Runtown have taken to the streets of Lagos State to protest against police brutality, extortion and extra-judicial killings in the country.
The #EndSARS protest slated for Thursday, October 8, 2020, is currently being held from Lekki toll gate opposite Oriental Hotel to Onikan and Appeal Court through the Nigerian Law School, Lagos.
The protesting youths are seeking the dissolution of the SARS unit of the Nigeria Police Force as they chants #EndSARS, while carrying placards with in different scriptions like: “Enough is Enough” and “We are all victims”.
Both Falz and Runtown, who vowed they won’t back down on the #EndSARS protest, counselled the protesters not to be violent as they engaged security operatives who attempted to disrupt the protest.
In an Instagram live chat on Thursday morning, Falz, son of human rights activist, Femi Falana, said on his way to the protest venue: “No backing down. We move. The police are already there, waiting for us but we are not here to cause trouble. It is a peaceful protest. Coming through.”
