The Ebonyi State Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chika Nwoba, has resigned his position following the defection of the state governor, David Umahi, from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Nwoba in a statement on Monday expressed gratitude to the APC and its leaders for finding him worthy to be elected to the position in 2018, at the age of 27.
Speaking with Punch in a telephone interview on Tuesday, Nwoba said that he was leaving the APC because, “I cannot work with Ebonyi State Governor, David Umahi.”
In a related development, the Chairman of the Ebonyi chapter of the APC, Chinedum Elekwachi, has dumped the party and joined the PDP.
Elekwachi, disclosed this to newsmen, in Abakaliki, on Tuesday. According to him, he took the decision after consultations with his family, friends, associates and political mentors.
KanyiDaily recalls that Governor Umahi had announced his detection to the APC on Tuesday, November 17, 2020, saying his action was a protest against the “injustice” done to the South-East region by the PDP.
