Nigerians Are Prosecuting Fulani Because Of President Buhari’s Failure – Sule Lamido

Lamido has lamented that nowhere is safe for Fulani in Nigeria because of President Buhari’s failure.

A former Governor of Jigawa State, Sule Lamido, has alleged that that Nigerians are prosecuting Fulani because of the failure of the government of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Lamido stated this in Kano while receiving 27 newly elected local government chairmen of the Peoples Democratic Party in Jigawa at his office on Thursday.

According to him, the attacks and dislike for Fulani people by Nigerians, especially the southwestern part, is because of Buhari’s bad governance.

He lamented that today, Nigerians are so blindfolded by hatred for the Fulani, forgetting that not all Northerners even voted for and or like him.

“Today, northerners and the Fulani race are not at peace. The insecurity created by the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led government has affected everyone; so to bully them (Fulani) and see them as Nigeria’s problem.

“What the Fulanis are going through in this country is unfortunate. We are being persecuted, abused, endangered, called names, just because Buhari is from us. This is not fair. This is unjust.

“Though a Fulani man, I did not vote for Buhari and our parties are completely different, but the Yoruba’s Tinubus, the Igbo’s Ngiges and the South-South’s Amaechis were the ones who firmly stood behind the president to win the election, not even the Fulani.

“Why have those from the South, who brought Buhari to power in 2015, failed to defend his people in their region? Where are the Tinubus, Fasholas, Amaechis, Ngiges, Soyinkas, Rochas, where are all these, why can’t they protect Buhari’s people?

“Nigerians should know that Fulani herders are very peaceful and enterprising people who pasture nature and live by nature. They are not violent and it is not right to castigate all other Fulani because Buhari failed.”

Lamido said it is high time leaders and elite shun parochial tendencies, adding that unless the Igbo, the Hausa, the Yoruba and other minority tribes bury their differences and believe in each other, no matter how small they are, Nigeria will be a forgotten entity.

Lamido also stated that Fulanis, like other Nigerians, have the right to live in every part of the country, alleging that the tribe is now facing persecution, especially in the hands of Yorubas.

KanyiDaily recalls that Governor Rotimi Akeredelu of Ondo State recently issued a seven-day ultimatum to Fulani herders, to quit the state forest reserve ober the rising cases of insecurity in the state.

Also, a Yoruba rights activist, Sunday Adeyemo, more popularly known as Sunday Igboho, issued an ultimatum to Fulanis to leave Oyo state or face severe consequences.
