“They Told Us To Pay N10m Each” – Kidnappers Of Greenfield Students Make Fresh Demands

Bandits who abducted the students of Greenfield University in Kaduna State have asked their parents to pay N10 million each for their release.

KanyiDaily recalls that the bandits who abducted 23 students from the institution on April 20, 2021, had earlier demanded N800m ransom from their parents.

Following the failure of their parents to raise the money, the bandits killed three of the students, and later another two within the first week of their abduction.

Last Monday, the mastermind of the attack, Sani Idris Jalingo, demanded N100 million and 10 motorcycles, threatening to kill the remaining 17 students the following day if their parents or government failed to meet his demands.

However after the deadline expired, the kidnappers reportedly reached out to the parents of the students individually on Monday, May 10, demanding that they pay N10 million for each of their children.

“They called us (parents) individually on Monday evening and told me that if I pay N10 million today, my sister will be released today,” the family member who craved for anonymity said.

“I can tell you authoritatively that other parents and family members have been reached with the stern warning that if Governor El-Rufai should carry out his recent threat of bombarding them, they will have to option but to kill our children,” he added.

The state police command spokesman, ASP Mohammed Jalige, who could not confirm the development, however, said the police was doing everything possible to rescue the remaining students.

KanyiDaiky recalls that Governor El-Rufai had revealed tgat he planned to attack the bandits even if it meant some abducted students would die in the process.
