Police Officers Gets N1m Reward After Rejecting Bribe From Fake Drug Dealers In Kano

Two police inspectors, Garba Rabo and Jamila Buhari, have been presented with N1 million cheque by members of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), Zone II Command, Onikan, Lagos.

The two officers from Kano Police Command, attached to Consumer Protection Council (CPC), in March rejected a bribe of N1 million offered to them by a suspected fake drug dealer in Kano.

The N1 million cheque was received on behalf of the police officers by Mr. Ahmed Iliyasu, a former Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) Zone 2.

While presenting the cheque to AIG Illiyasu, PCRC Deputy Chairman Farouk Akintunde, who stood in for the Zonal Chairman, Alhaji B.R.O. Balogun, said:

“We recognise the good work police officers have been doing throughout the nation. We are aware of the recent event, sometime ago in Kano, when two officers did well by rejecting a large sum of money as bribe.

“These officers rejected the money and this act was noticed by PCRC Zone 2. Although the zone is for Lagos and Ogun states, because we are all working for the Nigeria Police, our members in France, led by Bashorun Omotayo Shadrach Oluwasegun, who were aware of the activities of these police officers, thought it wise that they must be rewarded. They are doing this, under the umbrella of PCRC Zone 2 and gave out N1million as a palliative to the police officers. The two officers are a model to the Nigeria Police.

“We are taking this opportunity to urge you to use your good offices to contact the police authority in Kano State to do the needful for those gentle officers.”

AIG Illiyasu thanked them for reaching out to the two officers.

“I appreciate the leadership of the PCRC as a stakeholder in the structure of national community policing drive. They have been very vibrant, rendering critical roles as well as providing assistance, welfare and logistics for our men,” he said.

KanyiDaily had also reported how a police sergeant was rewarded N100,000 after he returned the sum of N1.2 millin found at a scene of a fatal accident in Kano.
