2023: Fulani Herdsmen, Miyetti Allah Speaks On Endorsing Tinubu For President

The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) has reacted to a report that its members, Fulani herdsmen, endorsed the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu for president in 2023.

During a meeting on Sunday, a former chairman of the Jigawa chapter of MACBAN, Ya’u Haruna had declared support for Tinunu, saying that the welfare of members of the association will improve under the leadership of the APC chieftain.

Haruna had noted that when Tinubu was governor of Lagos, intervened and resolved an issue that involved the association when it had a crisis in his state and Benue.

He said, “We are also scanning the people showing interest in the presidential seat with Bola Tinubu leading because he was the one that intervened in our matter while he was governor of Lagos, and we had a crisis in Benue.

“Tinubu came all the way, got us on a roundtable and reconciled us. So, someone who could do this at that time, we believe, can do more when he is at the helm of affairs.”

Miyetti Allah Denies Endorsing Tinubu

Speaking on the development in a statement issued on Wednesday, MACBAN national secretary, Baba Ngelzarma said the association has not endorsed any presidential aspirant.

Ngelzarma said any of his colleagues who endorsed Tinubu spoke for themselves, noting that the association doesn’t wish to be dragged into such political matters at this time.

The statement reads, “The attention of the MACBAN National Headquarters has been drawn to stories in the media claiming that we have endorsed the presidential aspiration of Sen. Ahmed Tinubu.”

“We want to make it clear that the association has not endorsed any candidate. Those who endorsed Tinubu are doing so as individuals, as MACBAN should not in any way be dragged into the politics of endorsement at this stage.”

KanyiDaily recalls that Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom had urged Nigerians to vote against Tinubu for opting to continue with President Buhari’s policies and programmes which he said were bad.
