Russia Invasion: Ukraine President Bans Men Aged 18 To 60 From Leaving The Country

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy has banned males between the ages of 18- 60 from leaving the country following the military invasion from Russia.

Ukraine Vows To Fight Against Russian Invasion

KanyiDaily had reported how Russian President, Vladimir Putin ordered a military operation in Ukraine on Thursday morning, killing hundreds of people and wounding dozens.

According to Al Jazeera, President Zelenskyy in a video on Thursday said 137 civilians and military personnel have been killed in the country on the first day of the Russian invasion with 316 wounded.

The president, who described the victims as “heroes”, said Rissian forces are “killing people and turning peaceful cities into military targets. It’s foul and will never be forgiven.”

Zelensky has now banned males between the ages of 18- 60 from fleeing the country following invasion from Russia,” Ukraine’s State border guard service (DPSA) reported.

The ban will be in place for the duration of martial law, which was imposed by the president following recent strikes from Russia, including reported strikes in Kyiv on Friday morning.

The statement reads, “The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine reports that due to the imposition of martial law in Ukraine, a certain category of citizens is temporarily restricted from leaving Ukraine.

“In particular, male citizens of Ukraine aged 18 to 60 are prohibited from leaving Ukraine. This rule will apply for the period of martial law. We ask citizens to take this information into account.”

Ukraine’s interior ministry, who made the announcement at midnight via Telegram, said anyone caught violating martial law could end up facing military tribunals.

Zelenskyy enforced the measures amid missile strikes and acts of military aggression by Russian forces across Ukraine, and the ban on so many males leaving the country is aimed at “guaranteeing Ukraine’s defence and the organisation of timely mobilisation,” DPSA said.

The president has also encouraged Ukrainian citizens willing to fight to come forward and promised weapons for anyone who wants them, while the country’s defence minister, Oleksiy Reznikov, has called on anyone with a Ukrainian passport to enlist in the army.

KanyiDaily recalls that world leaders and organizations have threatened to impose numerous sanctions on Russia, but Putin said he remains undeterred in his mission to ‘denazify’ Ukraine.
