Nigerian singer, Brymo has come under fire for supporting the presidential aspiration of Bola Tinubu, the national leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The whole drama started on Monday when a tweep @ambrosia_ijebu wrote, “This Jagaban (as Tinunu is also called) candidacy has truly helped me see that so many Nigerians actually don’t care about purposeful or diligent leadership.”
Reacting to the tweet, Brymo described Tinubu as a “city boy”, noting that the APC chieftain is the one with a plan to better the life of Nigerians in the country.
The singer, who noted that he has never met Tinubu or his political affiliates, charged Nigerians to stop trying to “kill off” Tinubu’s ambition because of his age.
Brymo said, “Yet he’s the one with a plan, we all know that. Let a city boy be president for once!… I’ve never met the man, or anyone who represents, or is acquainted with him, or even his relations and political affiliates – and if we stopped trying to kill them off for being old.”
As his tweet began to gain engagement on the social media platform, the singer continued to give justifications as to why Tinubu’s candidature was the best bet.
“About having a Plan; You live in what town ?.. I live in Lagos. Yh! City Boy. It is like Lagos moving into Aso rock, it is guaranteed to work!.. even if looting is rife it’ll still be the best presidency yet. On God!” he replied another follower.
“You may be trying for God knows why, I am just looking for the best options there are, something to bridge the aspirational divide.. and it is my country as well, I have natural rights to pick a candidate and speak for why!!”
“Omo!.. una no go at least present argument, una go just dey make remarks for my comments ?.. really ?… una no go make small effort Shey ?.. this place go survive and thrive sha.. I don pick sides, I dey for spreading city vibes into countrysides, to scale up wetin dey work.”
Brymo’s shocking support for Tinubu has triggered multiple reactions on social media. While some shared his sentiments, others believe that he has been bought over by the political elites.
KanyiDaily recalls that singer, Timi Dakolo had also come under fire for performing at the presidential declaration of a former vice-president, Atiku Abubakar.
