Tinubu has donated N75 million to victims massacred yesterday at a Catholic church in Owo, Ondo state.

The National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and presidential aspirant, Bola Tinubu has visited victims of the recent attack at St. Francis Catholic Church in Owo, Ondo State.

Ogun Church Attack Victims

KanyiDaily had reported how some gunmen stormed the church on Sunday and killed over 50 worshipers, while several others sustained gunshot injuries.

On Monday, Tinubu condemned the violent attack on innocent worshippers when he visited the scene in the company of Ogun Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu.

The APC leader, who spoke at the Palace of Olowo, Oba Ajibade Gbadegesin Ogunoye, promised to work with Governor Akeredolu to bring succour to the victims of the Owo Massacre.

He described the attack as an evil that must be defeated, saying “there is no place for such hatred and wanton taking of innocent lives” in our country.

Before he visited the church for the spot assessment, Tinubu pledged N50million to the victims and another N25million to the Owo Catholic Church.

Expressing his sadness over the tragic incident, Tinubu noted that the South-West had never witnessed such an attack of such magnitude saying it was horrendous.

The APC presidential aspirant called on federal and state governments to work together to strengthen the security around the country.

Akeredolu, who appreciated Tinubu for pausing his presidential campaign activities less than 24 hours before the APC convention, promised to either bring the assailants down to the state for justice or take justice to them.

On the trip to Owo with Tinubu were former Speaker of House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, Chairman of TETFUND, Kashim Ibrahim-Imam, former APC National Vice Chairman, Southwest, Chief Pius Akinyelure, former Chairman of Economic and Financial Crime Commission, Nuhu Ribadu and former Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Otunba Femi Pedro.

Meanwhile, a priest at St. Francis Catholic Church in Owo, Rev Father Andrew Abayomi narrated how he survived the church attack on Sunday.
