JUST IN: APC LG Chairman, Esther Bassey Dies After Meetings For Presidential Election

The Chairman of Calabar South Local Government Area of Cross River State, Mrs. Esther Bassey has died.

Esther Bassey died a day before the presidential and National Assembly elections.

Cause Of Esther Bassey’s Death

Esther Bassey was said to have passed on in her sleep around 4 am in Calabar after attending a meeting on how to perfect strategies for Saturday’s election.

Reports say an aide to the deceased, who confirmed the development, said the former council boss (fondly called Queen of the South) was hale and hearty last night.

Reports quoted the aide as saying, “She attended a series of meetings to prepare for tomorrow’s presidential election. She held some meetings yesterday close to the night.

“She showed no signs of exhaustion or sickness when she retired later in the evening.” the aide added.

The deceased was a member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC)

In other news, Kanyi Daily reported that the mastermind of the Abuja-Kaduna train attack on March 28, 2022, was among three terrorists arrested by troops at Damba community in the Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State on Valentine’s Day, according to the Defence Headquarters.
