KanyiDaily had earlier reported that Jonathan led the ECOWAS monitoring team to visit the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, in Abuja.
The former president also led the West African elders’ forum members to visit the other three major presidential candidates, including Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP), and Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).
The delegation were former presidents of Ghana, John Mahama, Boni Yayi of Benin Republic, Ernest Koroma of Sierra Leone, and Uhuru Kenyatta from Kenya among others.
Taking to his Twitter page, Jonathan said the delegation visited the presidential candidates to sue for peace amid the protests over the collation of results of Nigeria’s general election.
The visit comes amid calls by the PDP, Labour Party, and NNPP seeking a cancellation of the 2023 general election over alleged irregularities.
KanyiDaily recalls that Nigerians had also staged a peaceful protest over the ongoing collation of the 2023 presidential election results in Abuja.
