Dino Melaye Claims INEC Spent Over N400bn On Presidential Election

Former Kogi Senator cum Spokesman for the Atiku-Okowa Presidential Campaign Council, Dino Melaye says Nigeria’s electoral umpire, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) spent a whooping N400billion on the just conducted presidential election.

Dino Melaye, who claimed in a video on Monday night, also described the presidential poll as “a caricature show”.

Dino Melaye in the video said that the whole concept of redesigning the naira was a deception.

The former lawmaker’s statement comes a few hours after the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Atiku Abubakar and the party’s national chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, and other party chieftains stormed the headquarters of INEC to protest the declaration of the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu, as the president-elect after the poll.

Major opposition candidates, Atiku, Peter Obi, and Musa Kwankwaso of the PDP, Labour Party (LP), and New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) respectively have since rejected the outcome of the election.

They described the election as being marred by violence, rigging, and lacking integrity by the non-uploading of the presidential election results on the iRev portal in real-time on Election Day thereby calling for its cancellation among others.

Videos and pictures from all sorts of electoral malpractice supposedly from the poll flooded social media.

Both Atiku and Obi have also since commenced legal redress of the poll.

Melaye further remarked that “to make sure that the mandate of the people given freely to Atiku Abubakar is retrieved, we spent over N400bn just for a caricature show. INEC deceived Nigerians.

On the naira redesign, the spokesperson alleged that “because money was given to Bola Tinubu, the APC shared new notes on Election Day across the country, and the PDP was starved of funds. The Naira redesign was a ploy by INEC to deceive Nigerians.

He also called on all PDP supporters, and lovers of democracy all over the country not to allow this to stand.

In other news, Kanyi Daily reported that Media personality, Toke Makinwa has lamented that an “Independent woman is tired.”

Toke Makinwa stated this in a short tweet on her handle on Tuesday.

It is, however, not clear who she was referring to, it was obvious the actress was referring to herself.
