Pandemonium As Okada Riders Kill Policeman In Lagos

Commercial motorcycles popularly known as Okada riders have reportedly killed a policeman along Apapa-Oshodi expressway, Lagos State.

It was gathered that three guns belonging to the policeman were carted away during the incident which caused pandemonium on Wednesday afternoon around Cele Bus Stop.

According to Daily Trust, the lifeless body of the police was sighted by the roadside and no fewer than five patrol vehicles filled with fully armed policemen pursued the okada riders towards Second Rainbow/Mile 2 along the expressway.

The riders, numbering about 100, were also seen brandishing objects like cutlasses, sticks and iron rods as they fled from police arrest.

The cause of the confrontation between the okada riders and the deceased policeman was not yet clear at the time of filing this report.

Lagos police spokesman, Benjamin Hundeyin, who also confirmed the incident to newsmen on Wednesday, is yet to get the details of what led to the incident.

KanyiDaily had alspoo reported how Okada riders were involved in a clash with officers of the Lagos State Police Command at LUTH – Idi Araba area of the state.
