Chelsea owner, Todd Boehly steps back from active management of club

Todd Boehly, the owner of Chelsea, has begun to take a step back at the club following the Premier League giants’ worst season under his watch.

The Blues had their worst season in 29 years, finishing 12th in the Premier League this season.

In two subsequent transfer windows, the American billionaire took ownership and began massive spending.

He spent almost £600 million on players in the last two transfer windows, but it backfired spectacularly when Thomas Tuchel was fired and Frank Lampard was unable to improve things.

According to Bloomberg, Boehly has opted to reduce his direct engagement in the club’s operations.

According to the article, he is currently spending only 20% of his time on day-to-day activities at Chelsea, down from about 50%.

He has now delegated additional authority to Chelsea’s sporting directors.
