KanyiDaily had reported that Bola Tinubu and Kashim Shettima were both sworn-in on Monday as Nigeria’s 16th president and vice president respectively.
During the inauguration, Soludo arrived at the Eagle Square dressed in red and white Igbo attire shortly before the arrival of the former president, Muhammadu Buhari and made his way to the VIP section.
But the Department of State Security (DSS) operative stationed at the glass pavilion informed the governor that he was not included among the expected guests in that particular section.
Despite his insistence as an executive governor and the expectation of VIP treatment and respect based on his position, all attempts to persuade the DSS operative were unsuccessful.
Instead, the operative directed Governor Soludo towards the popular side, where prominent individuals such as Governor of the Central Bank, Godwin Emefiele, Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, business mogul Tony Elumelu, and others were seated.
In his reaction on Monday, Soludo’s Press Secretary, Mr Christian Aburime has clarified that the governor was duly invited to the inauguration and could not have been sent away from the state box, where dignitaries were meant to sit.
He said: “A very mischievous and misleading video is currently being circulated online by some mischief makers who derive pleasure in misinforming the general public
“The video shows Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR, arriving the Eagle Square for the Presidential swearing-in ceremony in Abuja and was subsequently being re-directed courteously by protocol officials to the rightful position reserved for him at the other side of the VVIPs sitting positions
“Redirecting invited guests to their rightful sitting position is neither an issue nor a condescending act.”
Aburime in an attempt to set the record straight called on members of the public to disregard the video, saying it was meant to misinform the people.
KanyiDaily had also reported how the stage collapsed on Monday morning during the swearing-in ceremony of Abba Yusuf as the Governor of Kano State.
