President Buhari Signs Three Bills Into Law Hours Before End Of Tenure

In a last-minute legislative push before the end of his tenure, President Muhammadu Buhari has signed three bills into law.

Babajide Omoworare, Senior Special Adviser to the President on National Assembly Matters, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday.

The first bill, the National Assembly Service Pensions Board (Establishment) bill, establishes a dedicated body to oversee the service pension scheme for National Assembly personnel. This move exempts them from the contributory pension scheme.

Another bill signed by Buhari is the Federal Road Safety Commission Training Institutions (Establishment) bill. Its primary objective is to enhance capacity building and training in road traffic administration and safety management. This measure is expected to contribute significantly to improving road safety across the country.

Lastly, President Buhari has signed the National Commission for Almajiri and Out-of-School Children Education bill into law. This significant legislation aims to tackle illiteracy by introducing a comprehensive multimodal education system in Nigeria.

The bill also emphasizes the development of skill acquisition and entrepreneurship programs. By prioritizing education and addressing the challenges faced by out-of-school children, the government aims to combat youth poverty, delinquency, and destitution.

These bills, now officially enacted, reflect Buhari’s dedication to vital sectors of Nigerian society, including pensions, road safety, and education.

President Buhari is set to hand over the power to President-elect, Bola Tinubu during his inauguration ceremony at Eagle Square in Abuja on Monday, May 29, 2023.

KanyiDaily recalls that President Muhammadu Buhari on Sunday delivered a farewell speech to Nigerians in which he reflected on key aspects of his two-term presidency and apologized for causing them pain through his policies.
