38-Year-Old Sylvester Ezeokenwa Elected As APGA National Chairman

38-year-old Sylvester Ezeokenwa has emerged as the newly elected National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).

Ezeokenwa was elected as the successor to Victor Oye during a convention held on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, in Awka, the capital of Anambra state.

Delegates from all 36 states of the country, as well as the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), participated in the election.

During the convention, the outgoing chairman, Victor Oye highlighted his achievements, stating that he left N300 million in the party’s bank account.

He also revealed that he won over 200 court cases during his tenure and completed the construction of the party’s national secretariat building in Abuja and a five-storey zonal office in Awka.

Oye expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve as the party’s leader for eight years and for effectively managing the party’s resources.

“This is despite the fact that I inherited less than N40 million from my predecessor,” NAN quoted Oye as saying.

In his remark, Anambra State Governor, Charles Soludo praised the peaceful conduct of the convention and expressed gratitude to the party for supporting him in his successful governorship election.

He commended Victor Oye for his focused leadership and efficient management of the party’s resources, acknowledging that APGA had grown stronger under his tenure.

“I am extremely thrilled that the past executives of APGA got stronger and Oye has written his name in gold. You served APGA and left it better than you met it,” Soludo said.

In his acceptance speech, the newly elected APGA Chairman, Sylvester Ezeokenwa, expressed his gratitude to party members for choosing him and for their confidence in his leadership.

He acknowledged the historical significance of being the youngest national chairman of any political party in Nigeria and emphasized the responsibility that comes with leading the progressive movement in the country.

“Today, I am the youngest national chairman of any political party in Nigeria and posterity stares at the new executives in the face as they lead all progressives in the country,” he said.

KanyiDaily had also reported that Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma was elected as the Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), a body consisting of all governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
