He also promised to provide adequate security for Nigerians, with the assistance of other security agencies.
Egbetokun stated this during a Handing/Taking Over Ceremony of the Inspector-General of Police at the Louis Edet House, Force Headquarters, Abuja.
“The Nigeria Police Force will strive for excellence, transparency, and accountability. We will also include a technology-driven approach to leveraging other techniques to ensure effective and efficient of resources,” he said.
“We will provide support structures for police officers that would cater for their physical, and psychological needs. We will introduce programmes to strengthen the minds; hearts of every officer.”
He called on Nigerians to partner with the Force in the transformative journey he would be embarking on.
The police boss also urged Nigerians to collaborate with the police to “build trust, restore confidence in our law enforcement institutions, and create a Nigeria where every citizen stays safe.
“We will secure the nation,” he said.
Kanyi Daily earlier reported that Egbetokun officially assumed office as the 22nd police boss on Wednesday after he was appointed as acting IGP by President Bola Tinubu on Monday.
