EFCC Releases Ortom After 10 Hours in their custody

Former Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, has been released by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), putting an end to his detainment.

Ortom made his appearance at the Makurdi zonal office of the agency on Tuesday, June 20, accompanied by his media aide, Terver Akase, and Principal Special Assistant on Special Duties, Abraham Kwanhgu.

During his time at the EFCC, Ortom faced intense scrutiny regarding the financial management of Benue State during his tenure as governor. He had previously handed over a debt profile of N187.7 billion to the administration of Reverend Father Hyacinth Alia.

After a long day of interrogation, the former governor emerged from the EFCC office at around 7:55 pm, leaving in a Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV). He was joined by friends and associates who had patiently waited for his release at a nearby hotel.

Kanyi Daily recalls that Samuel Ortom was invited by EFCC for questioning yesterday.
