On May 15, 2023, Hilda Baci broke the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking time by an individual after smashing the previous record set by Chef Lata Tondon in Rewa, India in 2019.

The Akwa Ibom chef, who broke Tondon’s record of 87hours, 45 minutes, cooked for 100 hours and 40 minutes to set a new world record as the first human on earth to spend such an amount of time cooking.

In a statement after the cook-a-thon, Guinness World Records said its officials eagerly await the submission of evidence, expressing their anticipation to assess Hilda’s efforts and potentially validate her remarkable achievement as a new record holder.

But in a post shared on her Instagram story on April 1, Hilda Baci expressed her restlessness due to the prolonged wait for confirmation from Guinness World Records.

The chef wrote, “God Abeg… Not me refreshing my email every second since we submitted all the evidence to Guinness World Records…”
