I Was On My Period While Cooking To Break Guinness World Record – Hilda Baci [Video]

Nigerian chef, Hilda Baci has revealed that she was on her menstrual period during her recent cook-a-thon in Lagos.

On May 15, 2023, Hilda Baci broke the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking time by an individual after smashing the previous record set by Chef Lata Tondon in Rewa, India in 2019.

The Akwa Ibom chef, who broke Tondon’s record of 87hours, 45 minutes, cooked for 100 hours and 40 minutes to set a new world record as the first human on earth to spend such an amount of time cooking.

Although the Guinness World Record is yet to confirm Hilda Baci as the new record holder for the longest cooking marathon, the Nigerian chef has shared her personal experience during the cook-a-thon.

In an interview with TV3, Hilda disclosed that she had her menstrual period throughout the four days of cooking, which made the challenge even more demanding for her.

According to the chef, her menstrual cycle arrived early due to the stress she was under, causing concern for her father, who knew about the severity of her period cramps.

She said, “I was on my period the entire time and that made it extremely difficult and extra hard. What that meant was it took away from the time that I had to rest.

“I was trying to rack up cause I get 5 minutes every time I completed 1 hour. So if I stand for one hour I had 5 minutes to rest. And I still had to do my medical checks. God bless my medical team. They were on ground.

“Because I was on my period I had to take a shower every single break I had. If I had 30 minutes I had to take a shower in that time because I had to change.

“My dad was worried because I have horrible cramps. Like really horrible cramps. So pushing through that means I can conquer things in this life.”
