Jonathan Onoja Isaac, a public affairs analyst based in Abuja, reminded the men of Otukpa, the headquarters of Ogbadibo Local Government Area in Benue State, of the importance of upholding the customs and morals of their community.
Otukpa is renowned for its rich tradition, including the worship of alekwu, the god of justice and the spirit of the ancestors.
According to local beliefs, alekwu has the authority to punish those who violate the customs of the land, which encompass practices such as abortion and extramarital affairs. Even men who contribute to abortion expenses face consequences imposed by alekwu.
Mr. Jonathan Onoja Isaac highlighted that two sons of Otukpa recently met premature deaths, while others had to undergo a cleansing ritual upon their return to the community. In light of these incidents, he shared a list of ten commandments that the sons of Otukpa should abide by.
