President Bola Tinubu on Thursday, held a meeting with the Service Chiefs, which were led by the Chief of Defence Staff, General Lucky Irabor at the State House, Abuja.

Tinubu arrived at the villa at 10:53 am and went straight into a closed-door session with the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Farouk Yahaya; Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Awwal Gambo; the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Isiaka Amao and the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba.

This is the president’s first official engagement with the security chiefs since assuming office on Monday.

It is unclear what the agenda of the meeting was, reports say the meeting may feature briefings from each security chief to keep the President abreast with the state of the nation’s security.

Recall that in Tinubu’s inaugural address on Monday, the president had promised Nigerians that security would be a top priority in his government.

He said “Security shall be the top priority of our administration because neither prosperity nor justice can prevail amidst insecurity and violence.

“To effectively tackle this menace, we shall reform both our security DOCTRINE and its ARCHITECTURE.

“We shall invest more in our security personnel, and this means more than an increase in number. We shall provide, better training, equipment, pay, and firepower.”

Meanwhile, Kanyi Daily reported that Tinubu had met with the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Abdulrasheed Bawa at the villa on Wednesday.
